Incident Near WIU Campus Proves to be Hoax

Macomb police surrounded a home for five hours Wednesday evening, believing someone might be barricaded inside. But it turned out they were sent to the home on a prank call.

The 911 center received the call from 509 West Murray around 6:00 pm. Police Chief Curt Barker said the caller was a woman.

Macomb Police Seeking Peer Approval

Rich Egger's guest is Macomb Police Lieutenant Jeff Hamer. They talk about the on-site assessment that will take place at the police department August 13 - 15.

Two trained assessors from the Illinois Chiefs of Police Association will examine the department to determine whether it should be accredited through the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP). The department will be graded on 71 professional standards.

Macomb Police Seek Honor for Squad Cars

The Macomb Police Department hopes an arresting graphic design will shoot down the competition.

The department entered photos of its new squad cars in an on-line contest by Law and Order Magazine. The winners will be published in the August issue.

Deputy Chief Eric Lenardt said Macomb's car pay tribute to the department's heritage. He said the badges painted on the cars look just like a Macomb police badge and the yellow on the cars matches the yellow in the department's patch.
