City Council Approves Contract

The Burlington City Council has made its choice for city manager official.

The panel voted unanimously on Thursday night to appoint James Ferneau to the post.

His first day as city manager will be April 23.

Ferneau has been serving as City Administrator of Sergeant Bluff, IA.

Burlington Mayor Jim Davidson says Ferneau stood out from the other finalists.

Illini West Will Advertise for New High School Site

The Illini West School Board will advertise for prospective locations for a new high school.

The board signed a contract late last year with Klingner and Associates for site selection and evaluation.  The district expected to choose from four or five sites.

Superintendent Kim Schilson said the board wants a greater selection of sites to choose from.

Sholl Seeks Full Term As Lee County Sheriff

Lee County Sheriff Jim Sholl

Lee County Sheriff Jim Sholl says he will run to stay in the office he has held for the last 16 months.

He was serving as Chief Deputy in late 2010 when he was appointed to replace Sheriff Buck Jones, who was retiring.

Sholl has been with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for more than 24 years.

He says he intends to continue to serve and protect the citizens of Lee County with commitment, dedication, and loyalty.

Sholl graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in 1988.
