Documentaries Big Winners at Cornfed Film Fest

The Best of Fest honor at the second annual Cornfed Film Fest in Macomb went to Class C – The Only Game in Town.  The movie follows several girls’ basketball teams from tiny, rural communities in Montana as they compete for the state title. It includes insight from Hall of Fame basketball coach Phil Jackson, who grew up in Montana.

Documentaries were also honored in two other categories. Chasing Water, which follows the Colorado River to the point where it dries up in the southwestern desert, was chosen Best Short Film.

Cornfed – The Sequel

Organizers of the Cornfed Film Fest in Macomb believe their debut was a hit so they’re preparing a sequel.

Committee member Nancy Crossman said organizers are working to make Cornfed even bigger and better this year.

“We’re hoping that this year we’ll have almost all independent films,” Crossman said.

Cornfed Film Fest Top Honor Awarded to Musical Comedy

The short film I Met Her in the Coffee Shop won the “Best of Fest” award at the inaugural Cornfed Film Fest in Macomb.

The plot for movie, by filmmaker Erik Hogan of Las Vegas, NV, is described as “A heartbroken dude gets hit in the face by love ... literally.”

Hogan said this is the first competition in which he entered the film.  He said the award will encourage him to enter it in other competitions.

He had not heard of Macomb before being asked to enter the Cornfed Film Fest.

Emphasis - April 6

Rich Egger's guests are Sue Scott and Nancy Crossman, who are co-founders of the Cornfed Film Fest in Macomb.

The inaugural festival will take place April 13 - 15, 2012. The Western Illinois Museum, 201 S Lafayette St will serve as the Welcome Center where you can find tickets and information.

The theme is A Festival of Firsts. It will feature student films, directorial debuts, and many other types of "firsts."
