Tom Sawyer Festival Grows
Hannibal, MO – Hannibal, Missouri celebrated its 50th anniversary Tom Sawyer Days over the weekend. One of the most popular events was the YMCA's mud volleyball tournament which attracted players from across the Tri-State region. Event co-chairman Kevin Knickerbocker says the festival has ramained popular over the years. He says ait got its start in connection with the national fence painting contest, which is still being held during the celebration. Other activities include a frog-jumping contest, wheelbarow racing, live music, food tents and many souvenirs featuring Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn and Mark Twain.
