Third Ward Alderman - Aaron Fosdyck
Macomb, IL – Aaron Fosdyck is the challenger in the election for Third Ward Alderman in Macomb. Fosdyck was a city employee for 33 years. He was in the Public Works Department when he retired four years ago.
This is Fosdyck's second run for Third Ward Alderman. He lost to Lou Gilbert in 2007, 145 votes to 89.
Fosdyck says he is running because the city needs better representation.
"The city needs to cut back on spending and some of that stuff," says Fosdyck. "I'm not afraid to say no. It's our money. If the public says we don't need to spend it, then that's what we need to do."
Fosdyck declined to name any current projects that he feels the city should not be taking on.
Fosdyck is opposed to the half-cent sales tax referendum. He points out the same proposal was rejected in November. He thinks the city should respect that vote.
Fosdyck says he would like to see more businesses brought to Macomb's industrial park, which is in the Third Ward. He is not sure what the city should do to attract more businesses.
Fosdyck says he will make sure more work gets done in the Third Ward if he is elected.
