S.E. Iowa Rate Equalization Underway
Keokuk, IA – The effort to equalize Iowa's electric rates is moving forward. The Iowa Utilities Board has received a filing from Interstate Light and Power company, a subsidiary of Alliant Energy. The filing would begin the rate equalization process. Alliant spokesman Ryan Stensland says the first step in a five-year equalization plan will increase some rates and decrease others. He says residents will not notice changes before February. Residents in the zone including Lee County will see an average monthly decrease of $1.51. Residents in other zones will see a power rate increase.
