Mayor Plans Development Initiative

Rushville, IL – Rushville's mayor plans to introduce an initiative to the city council called "Energize Rushville."

Scott Thompson says he got the idea after a round-table discussion during a recent city council meeting.

He plans to introduce a series of proposals for council discussion at a future meeting.

He says they will range from developing ways of eliminating housing blight to new methods of encouraging economic development.

He hopes the aldermen will discuss his list of suggestions, then adopt a few of them until they are accomplished.

Then, he hopes they will pick some others to work on.

Thompson says the initiative will depend on gaining involvement from not only aldermen but from businesses and individual citizens.

Thompson plans to begin advertising the concept and beginning to sign up backers at this fall's Smiles Day celebration.
