Mayor Optimistic on Performing Arts Center
Macomb, IL – Macomb Mayor Mick Wisslead is cautiously optimistic about Western's chances of receiving planning money for a performing arts center. Wisslead met with Illinois Budget Director John Filan who told him the project is still on a priority list. Wisslead says Filan is more optimistic about the planning grant because gambling might be expanded in Illinois. Wisslead says this could mean new money for education and building projects. The mayor says a meeting with a representative from the governor's office is scheduled for early June.
