Macomb Schools In The Red
Macomb, IL – The Macomb School District is projecting it will experience another budget deficit this fiscal year. The district believes its three main operating funds will be in the red by a combined $812,000. Most of that shortfall is in the education fund, which pays for salaries. Nonetheless, Superintendent Fran Karanovich says the district should be able to make it through the year without any major cuts to personnel, programs, or services. Dr. Karanovich says there is enough money in reserve to cover the shortfall. The district's proposed spending plan will go on public display in August. A public hearing on it will be held in September.
