Lee County Community Center Future More Clear After January
Fort Madison, IA – The future of a community center for Lee County residents with mental health and other developmental disabilities could become more clear by the end of the month. CPC Administrator Jim Posz says a conference call between the state and mental health case workers from across Iowa is set for January 31. He says the call will focus on a proposed loss of federal funding that currently covers part of the cost of county residents attending shelthered workshops. Chairman George Morgan says the Board of Supervisors will wait until after the conference call before deciding anything on the proposed community center. Morgan says the county board still has some questions about the center, including cost, liability, and location. Despite the concerns, the supervisors have given Posz permission to include the center in his budget for next year. They say there is no guarentee, though, that the center will remain in the spending plan after the budget process.
