Lee County Approves New Contracts
The Lee County Board of Supervisors has ratified new two year contracts with the unions representing employees in the secondary roads department and in the administrative unit.
The new contracts take effect on July 1, 2013.
They call for employees to receive 3% pay raises on July 1, 2013 and on July 1, 2014.
The county was able to get a significant change in insurance coverage worked into the contracts.
A single policy will no longer be free for employees as they will now have to pay $7.50/month.
A family plan will cost an additional $7.50/month as well.
The county will also do away with the practice of paying for a portion of vision and dental procedures.
The contracts call for the county to provide free coverage for employees. Family coverage would cost employees more money.
The new deals also cover seniority, leave time usage and FMLA.
By contrast, members of the Sheriff’s Office will receive a pay hike of 1% on July 1, 2013 and January 1, 2014 as a provision of their current contract.
Lee County Auditor Denise Fraise says departments budgeted for the upcoming fiscal year with the potential of raises in mind.
The unions have already ratified the new contracts.
