Kids Internet Domain Gets Slow Start
Springfield, IL – An online domain for children has had a lackluster beginning. The Illinois lawmaker who helped create it calls that disappointing. Congressman Johh Shimkus says the domain "kids.us" was designed to be a place where educational or safe material for children could be segregated, and parents could configure their browsers to go only to that site. Shimkus says the site needs more marketing. In addition, he suggests that the site's prohibition on chat rooms or hyperlinks to other sites could make it less profitable to advertisers.
