Hamilton School Superintendent To Step Down
Hamilton, IL – The superintendent of a Hancock County school district will step down this summer. Hamilton superintendent Steve Breckon has announced his retirement, effective June 30. The school board accepted Breckon's resignation after a lengthy board meeting. Breckon has been in education for more than 4 decades, including the last 5 years as Hamilton's superintendent. Breckon says it is the right time for him to step down. The district faces some tough decisions in the near future. It is involved in a school reorganization feasibility study and in talks with neighboring schools about athletic co-ops. Breckon says he is willing to help if he is needed. Breckon says the district will need to hire a firm to conduct the search process to find his replacement.
