Macomb, IL – Rich Egger's guest is Timothy Collins, Assistant Director of the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs. They talk about this fall's Sustainability Brownbaggers series at Western Illinois University.

The hour-long presentations begin at 12:30pm on Tuesdays on the third floor of WIU's Malpass Library. The theme this fall is "Climate Change and Global Warming."

"It's a very important and sometimes volatile topic," Collins said. "We want to discuss the science of climate change and global warming as well as the political side of it."

Tuesday, Oct. 4: "Urban Infrastructure and the Environment: Keeping the Environment Safe While Maintaining the Modern Lifestyle." Presented by: Rizwan Hamid, president, Aqualyze, Inc.

Tuesday, Oct. 11: "Sustainable Energy Education." Presented by: Jolene Willis, program assistant, Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs Wind Energy Program; and Michelle Aurand, WIU interdisciplinary studies.

Tuesday, Oct. 18: "Climate Change: Opportunities for Mitigation and Adaptation in the U.S. Midwest." Presented by: Joel Gruver, assistant professor, WIU School of Agriculture.

Tuesday, Oct. 25: "Voices from the Past: Warnings About Climate Ignored." Presented by: Timothy Collins, assistant director, Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs.

Tuesday, Nov. 1: "WIU Coneflower Project: Teaching Sustainability Across the Curriculum." Presented by: Amy Patrick Mossman, associate professor, WIU English and journalism.
