Directory Helps Seniors & Their Families
The latest edition of the McDonough County Senior Services Directory is now available. It can be found at Macomb City Hall, the YMCA Senior Center in Macomb, and the Public Relations Department at McDonough District Hospital.
It can also be found on the Macomb Area AARP’s website.
Single copies are free. There is a $1.00 per copy charge for each additional directory.
Mary Warnock, Chairperson of the Creative Elder Options Committee for the group, said this edition includes – for the first time -- details about a service outside the county’s borders.
“The new thing that we have is (information about) a stroke support system in Rushville at the Culbertson Hospital,” Warnock said.
Warnock said a committee member brought the stroke support system to the group’s attention after her husband suffered a stroke. Warnock said no such program is currently offered in McDonough County.
The guide also provides senior citizens and their families with information about home health care, transportation, and other services for seniors in McDonough County.
Warnock said no other local AARP chapters in Illinois produce a similar guide, even though the Macomb chapter has been honored by the state AARP for its efforts in producing and updating the directory.
