AG Madigan on Pensions
Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan said ahead of the special assembly called by the Governor, pension reform is needed.
Madigan says that no matter what plan is passed it's likely to face court challenges. A process that will take time, so it's important that is started as soon as possible.
She said that "as the state's lawyer" she wants a plan passed wouldn't say if she had a preference for either House Speaker Michael Madigan's plan or Senate President John Cullerton's.
Madigan also said she was disappointed that the General Assembly didn't pass legislation to legalize gay marriage.
Madigan made her comments at Knox College after receiving a Honorary Doctorate.
