Macomb, IL – Macomb does not plan to take on any major new street repair projects in the coming year.
City Administrator Dean Torreson projects the half-cent infrastructure sales tax will pay for just two projects in the budget year that begins May 1. One is completion of the Ward Street work. The other is the northeast side water main project.
"The recommendation from the (public works) committee is to be very conservative next year as far as project spending," says Torreson.
Rushville, IL – The Rushville City Council has agreed to support the Two Rivers Regional Council's bid for Community Development Assistance Program, or CDAP, grants. If awarded, the grants would send about $400,000 Rushville's way to rehabilitate 8 to 12 low-income homes.
Mayor Scott Thompson says the council's letter of support does not approve receipt of the funding, nor does it approve the projects. But, it's still important. Thompson letters from local governments, lawmakers and other entities are important when the state decides which projects to fund.
